enEX designs and manufactures systems and components, offers measurement tools, and provides consultancy in HVAC&R for the natural working fluid CO2. It operates in the following fields of application:

- Manufacturing of subcritical, transcritical and cascade refrigeration systems
- Development of heat exchangers, controls etc., and heat recovery systems

- Consultancy in HVAC&R
- Customized conversion of theoretical studies into industrialized solutions
Some patented systems and components related to CO2 applications:
- Low-pressure receiver for single and multi-compressor units, with a special evaporator control for operation with "zero" superheat, using conventional expansion valves
- Centralized control of evaporating temperature to maximize performance also at low load conditions, to be used together with above control. Using the two concepts it is possible to operate, at low load conditions, with extremely low differential temperature between evaporator and air to be cooled, as low as 3 K, with a consequent big energy saving
- Design concept such to maintain circuit pressure below given limits in standstill conditions and in case of power failure, being possible to design piping system for a low pressure
- Active superheat control of compression temperature to assure a long life of compressors
- Inverter-driven compressors with optimized software
- Regenerative heat exchangers
- Oil recovery system from low-pressure side

|
In 2004, enEX was founded as a consulting and design company specialized in refrigeration and heat pumps with small environmental impact, as well as in the design of devices for measuring and optimizing consumption. Two years later enEX shifted its business focus from the design of units to their manufacturing and sale, using its newly established factory in Ponzano Veneto, Italy.

enEX cooperates with top-level research institutes, universities and component manufacturers worldwide. A remarkable number of installations using CO2 as a refrigerant are already operative in Europe. The company holds several patents in the field.
