Based on years of CO2 Technology expertise, the Swedish manufacturer Green & Cool has developed a combined chiller unit and freezer unit for direct expansion on the evaporator side, operating either with a liquid or air cooled gas cooler. Especially designed for the natural refrigerant R744 (CO2), the system offers the lowest environmental impact through significantly less direct emissions. Moreover, CRYSTAL DX can reach a higher Coefficient of Performance (COP) compared to other refrigeration units, as no heat exchangers are involved in the system. In addition, there is no need for pumps on the secondary fluid side.
The unit is available in a wide range of capacity, from 25.2 to 50.4 m3 swept volume on the medium temperature (MT) side and from 12.7 to 14 m3 swept volume on the low temperature (MT) side. The global installation costs for a transcritical direct expansion system is comparable to a traditional HFC system since the pipe dimensions are thinner.

The units are available in different sizes to fit various applications, mainly within grocery stores and the food industry:
- 30 - 100 kW refrigeration output at - 10 °C for MT
- 10 – 30 kW refrigeration output at - 37 °C for LT

Quality and Safety
The “Green Control System”, standard for all Green & Cool units, helps optimizing the COP to the maximum. The system is developed from many years of experience and ensures the highest quality and security for the end user. The control system is especially user friendly, as it offers a complete surveillance of the compressor-pack and the possibility of remote control/settings.
