ZerolŪ RFL-EP, Shrieve's polyalkylene glycol (PAG) synthetic lubricant, has been specifically developed to extend compressor lifetimes in R744 systems. Due to its exceptional viscosity index, the double end-capped lubricant is the optimum choice to enhance the compressor operation at temperature extremes, therefore leading to high levels of energy efficiency. Its high temperature stability, even in presence of water ingress, results in an extended lubricant lifetime and lower system maintenance costs.
Shrieve's PAG based lubricant provides optimized levels of miscibility in R744, which ensures adequate miscibility for an overall refrigeration system efficiency but also ensures that the lubricant viscosity is not impacted by CO2 dilution to a degree where wear issues may result. The ZerolŪ RFL-EP lubricant series has a reduced tendency to absorb water compared to alternative "uncapped" and "double end-capped" PAG lubricants, as well as other synthetic lubricant technologies. Its optimized low-level additive technology protects the compressor from any problems related to corrosion of white or yellow metals and ensures long fluid lifetimes.
ZerolŪ RFL-EP lubricant has been approved for use with CO2 compression by leading compressor manufacturers, such as Dorin, Mycom and Itomic.

Position
"The shift to the more environmentally friendly refrigerant CO2 creates challenges for refrigeration lubricant manufacturers. New technology development and commercialization in a more demanding compatibility and stability environment requires both traditional R&D as well as effective information management," states Shrieve President Phil Becker.
"Shrieve is excited about its partnership with R744.com. We are sure that this platform will be of great benefit to our company and the industry as a whole as CO2 enters the commercial scene on a greater scale," he adds.
