Since the 1990’s, Bock has driven the evolution of R744 compressors in all applications. Since 2005, the company has partnered with Knudsen Køling, a Danish manufacturer of refrigeration equipment, to develop reliable and efficient CO2 systems for the retail industry. The result is a simple and cost-effective transcritical booster system that maximizes the use of standard components. In June 2007, the latest system was installed in a supermarket of Denmark’s leading consumer goods retailer COOP. It incorporates both an appropriate oil return and vibration elimination, being the optimized solution for today’s retail applications.
|
The joint work of Bock and Knudsen Køling started with an EU-funded project to install a CO2 transcritical cascade system in a store of the Danish retail chain “Super Best”. The success of the technology, using two linked R744 systems, led to two more installations by spring 2007. In the two new booster systems, the subcritical low temperature compressors discharged into the suction of the transcritical compressors handling the high temperature load.

After years of steady compressor refinement and development, Bock is now sure that "with appropriate compressors and good system design, the era of CO2 retail refrigeration has begun."
A short success story of Bock CO2 compressors
- 1994: Bock introduces its first transcritical compressor for bus air-conditioning. After extensive testing, the product is developed into a semi-hermetic compressor in 2000. Today, Bock offers an air-cooled and a gas-cooled system version.
- 2003: After two years of field trials with various clients, Bock’s new compressor HA2CO2/7110T starts to operate in commercial refrigeration systems.
- 2006: Bock presents a complete CO2 compressor range, including RK26, HAXCO2 and HGXCO2 for commercial refrigeration.
- Today: Bock is currently completing its R744 product range to satisfy the growing market demand for the use in serial application.
