After years of investing into the development and enhancement of CO2 Technology, Green & Cool’s products have gained momentum as more and more international clients look for environmentally safe cooling solutions. The new demand from the European and international food industry has strenghtended the position of Green & Cool as a leading supplier of refrigeration systems, chillers, and air-conditioning units based on CO2 (R744).
Facing a new interest for CO2 systems, Green & Cool’s founders Stig-Göran Lind, Anders Lind and Micael Antonsson see things to finally loosen up: "It has been some instructive years, where we have managed to overcome many problems partly depending on lack of suitable components. Now we have found the suitable solutions for our products and the demands from our clients are high."
Serial production & new technologies to meet rising demand
|
In 2007, Green & Cool has installed 25 transcritial CO2 systems in super- and hypermarkets mostly in Sweden, and another 5 commercial refrigeration installations will be delivered also to Denmark and Norway in 2008. In addition, the company has installed a new refrigeration system for the Sollefteå Hospital in northern Sweden. To meet the rising demand the company has recently invested in an extended production facility to manufacture refrigeration units for serial production. On top of that, Green & Cool could employ new staff in marketing, technical development, and production.

Green & Cool's units are now delivered with the new operating system "Green Control System", a PLC- based control system with a 7,5 inches full colour screen. This system will facilitate the operation and maintenance of the unit by using the integrated web pages. By surfing on a web page with a standard web browser like Internet Explorer you can control, measure and adjust the unit.
Possibilities to increase communication are available through two integrated communication ports for Mobdus, Ethernet and CANopen. You can manoeuvre e. g. the frequency inverter for refrigerant cooler via CANopen by web page.
Legislative pressure fosters green cooling
Green & Cool’s products have experienced high demand especially in Scandinavian countries, partly due to laws imposing high taxes on HFCs or forcing the countries to be more restrictive in their use of HFCs.: “We must use refrigerants with the lowest possible influence on the greenhouse effect and on the earth climate. Our investment in this technology is therefore in line with the ongoing debates regarding environmental problems,” Micael Antonsson confirms.
Background
The company was founded by two leading refrigeration companies in Sweden, Friginor Kylmontage & Service AB and Kyl AB Frigoväst, as a way of producing environmentally friendly retail refrigeration. In 2003, the company installed its first transcritical system in supermarket refrigeration. Green & Cool’s installations are used in leading supermarkets across Sweden, such as ICA and COOP, Sweden's largest food retailers.
