Freudenberg's permanent bonded micro sealing lip improves the handling and performance of charging ports for CO2 air conditioning systems substantially. The rubber-bonded seal was developed jointly by Freudenberg and Ventrex. Being permanently bonded to the valve body, Freudenberg’s micro sealing lip shows how elastomer sealings can be attached to a valve's metal parts, suggesting the use in similarly innovative applications in the future.
The valve seal has proven its high resistance to explosive decompression in alternating temperature tests, showing only little swelling even at highest temperatures. Being optimized by the means of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Freudenberg's product only presents small changes of its mechanical characteristics under the influence of aggressive oils and odoration substances at elevated temperatures.
