Konvekta's CO2 (R744) air conditioning system for city buses has proved its reliable operation for over 10 years. As the world’s pioneer, Konvekta equipped two city buses in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, with a CO2 vehicle air conditioning system already in 1996/97. Since then, the R744 units have been working efficiently during their daily use, leading to significantly less greenhouse gas emissions than conventional ones working with HFC-134a. This success led, in 2004, to a 3rd installation in a German public transport bus in Saarbrücken, and later in Singapur.
Konvekta is now planning to achieve the series-production readiness of its CO2 units. In cooperation with Volkswagen, an R744 air conditioning system for a Midibus was developed and tested in detail.

Konvekta's R744 success story
Since the early 1990’s, Konvekta has led the development of CO2 air conditioning and refrigeration systems. The company has received several awards, among others "The Technology Award for Sustainable Development" by the European Commission. On 28 October 2007, the German Federal President will present to Konvekta the "German Environment Award" for its work that helped to demonstrate the efficiency of R744 in vehicle air conditioning. R744.com will keep you updated on this event.
