ixetic’s R744 compressor family will increase the efficiency of Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) systems substantially by combining excellent control behaviour with the capability to run at suction temperatures of up to 40°C without any restrictions in driving mode. The new components feature high accuracy in torque management without additional sensors in the system.
The low-weight and reliable R744 compressors will reduce parasitic horse power consumption by 50% compared to current systems working with the refrigerant HFC-134a. In addition, they are highly cost-efficient as they do not only use simple low cost switch valves instead of set point valves, but also make pressure relief valves inside the compressor or the system unnecessary. The compressor family is suitable for all possible vehicle classes, ranging from compact cars to luxury class models.

Main features
Other key features and advantages of the R744 compressor family are:
The modular housing concept: allowing for maximum flexibility for mounting devices.
No temperature compensation for the solenoid needed.
Low leakage rate: 15 grams / year.
Complete displacement range between 15cc and 31cc: it is already available and the concept widely approved.

Reactions
"The new R744 air conditioning compressor is a technically absolutely challenging product. We are proud to announce that we are now ready for mass production from 2008 on," says Willi Parsch, Manager Compressor Development.
"We will use www.r744.com as a most efficient channel to present our products to a global audience," he adds.
ixetic's focus on R744 compressor development
In 1996, ixetic started the first development of carbon dioxide compressors, a worldwide leading technical innovation. After years of investigation, the company could finalize the concept and complete fleet testing in 2005. The last two years were used to prepare the serial production of the first generation product range. The delivery off tool parts is currently in progress.
Today, ixetic has become the leading company in the development of carbon dioxide air-conditioning compressors worldwide.
Background
ixetic originated from the former division pumps of LuK (Schaeffler Group). It is a supplying partner for leading automotive manufacturers of passenger and commercial vehicles, operating in Germany and the U.S. The group will open a new office in Japan this year.
