All graduates of technical universities, polytechnics, and colleges are called to send their scientific papers on natural refrigerants technology until 15 June to compete for a prize money totalling €5,000. Eligible are all doctoral, master's or bachelor's thesis focusing on natural working fluids, such as carbon dioxide.
|
"The prize is designed to encourage young scientists throughout Europe to work on sustainable solutions in refrigeration and air-conditioning," says Monika Witt, chairwoman of eurammon, the European initiative for natural refrigerants.
The "Natural Refrigeration Award 2007" is jointly sponsored by Sweden's Royal Institute of Technology, ScanRef, and eurammon. An international panel of judges from science, business and the media will select the prize winners in autumn 2007.
Thesis on carbon dioxide awarded twice
In 2005, the first and second prize was awarded to students from the Technical University Dresden and the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg for their thesis papers "Supercritical carbon dioxide as refrigerant" and "Dynamic simulation of refrigeration processes with carbon dioxide for mobile applications."
