| EPA revamps Climate Change Website |

A new service provides information on global warming from a science, policy, environment and health perspective. It lists all present and planned US initiatives against greenhouse gas emissions, including harmful refrigerants used in Mobile Air Conditioning.
2006-10-31
On 19 October, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled this website to inform citizens, business and authorities about governmental measures to counteract global warming.
Regarding greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles and Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC), users can find information on the US Transportation and Air Quality Voluntary Programs, the Green Vehicle Guide, and the governmental Fuel Efficiency Portal. A related "Non-CO2 Gases Website" provides details about fluorinated gases with a high Global Warming Potential, such as HFC-134a - the refrigerant mostly used in current MAC systems.
The portal is divided into five primary sections:
|
• Science
• Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Health and Environmental Effects
• Adaptation U.S. Climate Policy
• What you can do
|
 |
Background
The new service takes over EPA's global warming website, but assembles more information in a better-structured way. Given that the United States seeks to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 18% from 2002 to 2012, this portal calls on individuals and business to step up efforts on the reduction of harmful substances.
