Stainless Steel AC Hoses
Description

Witzenmann has developed flexible, high pressure and low pressure hoses for R744 air conditioning systems, featuring a modular design:

  • Corrugated stainless steel hose:
  • flexibility allows movements in 6 DOF (degree of freedom)
  • gas- and permeation-tight

  • Silicon layer:

  • prevention of friction between corrugated hose and braiding - damping

  • Stainless steel braiding

  • reinforcement against high inner pressure and pressure pulsations

  • protection against environmental influences

  • Decoupling of movements between engine fixed and chassis fixed components

  • Compensation of mounting tolerances in mobile R744 air conditioning systems
Basic specifications

  • Nominal diameter:

  • High pressure: 6mm

  • Low pressure: 8mm

  • Outside diameter:

  • High pressure: 12.5 mm

  • Low pressure: 15.3 mm

  • Flexible length: 50mm up to 500mm variable lenght for high & low pressure

  • Materials: austenitic, stainless steel and silicon rubber

  • Joining process: approved serial welding processes

  • Temperature resistance: high & low pressure side: -40°C up to 180°C

  • Burst pressure resistance
  • High pressure hose: >50 MPa

  • Low pressure hose: >45 MPa

  • Pressure pulsation resistant: min VDA draft spec

  • Vibration resistant: min VDA draft spec

  • CO2 proof: due to stainless steel design

  • Corrosion-resistant: according to DIN 50021 CASS, ESS, SS; ASTM B368-68
Advantages:

  • Compact design compared to R134a hoses – preferable for narrow package space:

  • smaller dimensions (e.g. outer diameter)

  • reduced contact risk with surrounding components

  • more flexible length due to weld design rather than crimping

  • = imperative for sufficient service life

  • Extensive package design and validation know-how

  • High temperature resistance (specific design up to 280°C)

  • Permeation-tight due to welded design

  • Project management according to ANPQP, APQP, AQMPP, VDA
