Hi,
I am interested in the Hitachi and Matsushita Panansonic Instant heat pumps. I would like to use either of them on the output from a solar hot water heater to boost winter delivered water temperature.
At present the system uses an instantaneous gas unit. I would like relative C.O.Ps for delivering water at 60, 45, 40 degrees C if input water temperatre us 20, 30, etc
Are these units able to operate with input temperature higher than the expected delivered temperature.. i.e. if a tempering valve is installed inline to deliver 50degree constant by mixing in cold water. This means that if tank water is above 45 (deired delivered temp) the instant unit will not turn on -- what is the standby electrical consumption of this unit. The instant gas units use 7watts constant
Finally .. has anyone got a suggestion on how I will get either the Panasonic or Hitachi instant heat pump hot water unit into Australia -- I am building 200 eco village houses and would like to use this solution for winter boosting of rooftop solar hot water,.

I agree that the eco cute is a great unit and we need it here. but we have a issue with intellectual property and possiblly testing issues with ISO.
-japan does not want to release the units without protectionof the technology.
-the US has no means to test these electric units and their performances.
sine they do not have ratings on other heat pump to water, this may the implications with the eco cute as well.
Late 2009 the europe models will appear and possiblly the japanese will follow suit.
Please tell me where I can get one too. I have been waiting for 3 years poking around. you can get basic eco cute units in japan for $3000

When will these products be produced for USA markets? GE claims to have a similar unit arriving on market 4th QTR 2009. To date it is only mass-production product. There is a somewhat home-built product (add-on) available, but so far none of the superior Japanese technologies have arrived in US markets.

I noticed that airconwarehouse.com is listing the Hitachi EcoCute RHK-23TBA on their website as "AVAILABLE SOON":
www.airconwarehouse.com/acatalog/EcoCute.html
This suggests that this particular EcoCute model might soon be available in the UK.
As far as I know, the Sanyo CO 2 ECO is the only domestic, single-phase, R744 ASHP currently available in the UK. I am looking for such a system to operate with solar thermal collectors for a low energy renovation.
Unlike the Sanyo which includes a closely integrated Tank Unit, this Hitachi appaers to be a seperate ASHP which offers greater design flexibility
I would be very interested to know details of availability and support for the Hitachi EcoCute RHK-23TBAin the UK. Anyone have further information that they are able to share?

We have available now 80kW water source CO2 heat pumps for US market
and the first installations are wineries and HVAC heating and cooling loads.
Units work very well with a high temperature hot water need up to 194 F, while chilling water for maximum COP. We also can use it in heat recovery mode on a condenser water circuit for maximum hot water output. The key is the inlet hot water temperature for these units which determines the flow rate and COP.
80kW water source unit can be UL rated.
