The Italian manufacturer of valves and fittings suitable for R744 will soon present its high-quality 3-way electrically-actuated ball valve for transcritical applications on R744.com.
The valve soon to be presented on R744.com combines high performance at low costs and extreme pressure resistance. As the biggest and most elaborate valve in IRD’s wide range of solutions for CO
2 systems, the DN32mm 3-way electrically-actuated ball valve has been proven in extensive leakage and burst tests. It complies with the EU Pressure Equipment Directive and all other safety and reliance marks for pressures above 120 bar. IRD’s motorized valve with actuator is especially suited for refrigerators defrosting processes.
IRD Iniziative’s involvement in CO2 technology
Due to the many different advantages of R744 as a refrigerant, IRD Iniziative has specialised in components suitable for CO
2 applications for several years. The broad range of products includes ball, check and safety valves, as well as different types of adapters, indicators and fittings for subcritical and transcritical R744 applications.
The components suitable for transcritical use of up to 120 bar have been developed to serial production. At present, IRD is developing new high resistance copper alloys for the tubes to combine high yield strength and low plastic deformation of the currently used stainless steel tubes but to avoid butt-welding joints that are still necessary for the existing tubes.
