At China Refrigeration - Asia’s leading HVAC&R trade fair currently held in Guangzhou - a significant number of component and system manufacturers are showcasing their CO2 solutions to demonstrate technological leadership. However, the market for R744 is yet to be developed in China.

The current economic crisis, having reached the refrigerant and air-conditioning industry worldwide, is leaving its footprints also at Asia’s key event for HVAC&R experts. Less exhibitors and expert visitors have found their way to Guangzhou, where from 5-7 April the Chinese industry is meeting to discuss its current situation and decide about future steps to remain competitive globally.
Environmental concerns and rising international pressure on China to move towards a phase out of R22 and its HFC replacements have put natural substances, including CO
2 (R744), to the forefront of business strategies to invest in future-proof solutions. As a result, this year’s China Refrigeration is featuring nearly exclusively technical seminars on sustainable heating, cooling and refrigeration solutions. Compressor manufacturer Bitzer, showcasing two of its CO
2 models on the trade floor, will update the Chinese industry on latest developments regarding its R744 models on Tuesday, 7 April.
R744.com will keep you updated on discussions evolving from this side event and all major market trends for CO
2 in China. Although the market for R744 is still in its infancy, as several component and system manufacturers confirm, first test applications using the natural refrigerant are now underway, preparing for a future wider use of CO
2 in China and beyond.
