The Italian compressor provider has added another three compressor models to the R744.com products database, this time for transcritical operation. The newly launched types are highly efficient and allow for an easy transition towards CO2 refrigeration systems.
FRASCOLD’s semi-hermetic types have been especially designed to optimize the performance of CO
2-only applications in transcritical operation. Resistant to pressures of up to 130 bar, their brand new design enables a swift and cost-competitive move to R744 from halogenated F-gases. The high-strength spheroidal graphite iron housing is suitable for maximum pressure resistance, while the high efficiency electric motor suitable for small swept volumes with very high pressures features an excellent balancing of rotating parts. Both components together ensure that FRASCOLD’s transcritical models are characterized by a low noise operation and significantly reduced vibrations. Based on software and procedures through CAD 30 with kinematic simulator, FEM structural analysis and FDM fluid-dynamic simulator, the single-stage reciprocating compressor is thus an optimal choice for heavy operational conditions.
Moreover, FRASCOLD’s compressors feature highest safety through shut-off and safety valves at the suction and discharge area, a PTC thermistor for maximum discharge temperature protection, discharge connections using a compression adapter for steel pipes, and a motor winding complete with thermal protection. A reliable and safe oil supply is ensured through an oil thrower disc.
To further optimize the performance of its new CO
2 compressor range also in the future, FRASCOLD invested in one of the world’s most modern calorimetric plant for transcritical cycles. The testing rig for reciprocating compressors is capable of operating in the range of ~200 to ~2000 kg/h of R744 mass flow. FRASCOLD is positive that the tool will challenge other compressor suppliers established on the market for CO
2 products.
