The pioneering learning initiative for the air conditioning, refrigeration and buildings sector has added its service portfolio to R744.com. Among the interactive modules features a CO2 Refrigeration course - the world’s first focussing on the natural refrigerant.

elearning-training.com was launched in October 2006 to meet the needs of refrigeration and AC professionals for continuous education and flexible knowledge gathering. Since then, the learning portal has rapidly become popular within the industry and is attracting international attention from students, educationalists and trade associations. At the moment, its student community numbers more than 4000 members from all around the world.
All elearning-training.com courses are accredited by CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) and the Construction CPD Certification Service. For its achievements in the field of worldwide interactive education, elearning-training.com was awarded the “Cooling Industry - Training Initiative” award in October 2007.
The world’s first CO2 Refrigeration Interactive Course
The first CO
2 (R744) online training course, freely accessible from any PC in the world with internet access, provides a broad introduction to the fundamental knowledge required to work on R744 systems, and prepares students for further study of advanced CO
2 refrigeration systems. It covers design, safety, installation and maintenance issues, including advantages of using CO
2, and the functionality of different refrigeration systems, such as volatile secondary, volatile secondary with DX, volatile secondary/cascade, transcritical and direct expansion.
The course’s two modules “CO
2 Fundamentals” and “CO
2 Refrigeration System Basics” are aimed at those already working with R744 and those about to use these systems. Developed by Star Refrigeration’s engineers with more than 15 years of experience in the field of CO
2 technologies, the course is complemented by valuable learning material from Danfoss. Students achieving an 80% or more in the final test will receive a Diploma certified by CIBSE and the Construction CPD International Service. The course is already used successfully by major retail operators as their standard requirement for contractor training.
The other courses
Besides the CO
2 Refrigeration course, elearning-training.com offers the following modules:
- Refrigeration Fundamentals Course: Aimed at those who want to improve or acquire basic knowledge in refrigeration engineering, this course tests engineers’ understanding of theory and the underlying principles of refrigeration and AC systems. The four modules cover “Gas Properties & Laws”, “Pressure & Pressure Measurement”, “Thermodynamics”, and “Vapour Compression Cycle”.
- Air Conditioning Fundamentals Course: This course is beneficial for those with technical background in other disciplines, beginners and air conditioning engineers in retraining. It covers “AC Split Systems”, “Automotive AC Basics”, and “Fundamentals of Automotive Air Conditioning Maintenance”.
- F-GAS Regulations: This newly added course prepares on the theoretical underpinning knowledge required to obtain new F-Gas Certification regarding stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment. Suitable for Cat I and II certification, it also contains questions to practise for the actual theoretical test.
Special offer for R744.com users
A free 7-screen sample of the CO
2 Refrigeration course is available to R744.com users, allowing to get a first impression on the structure and contents of the course.
As another promotional offer for visitors of R744.com, elearning-training.com provides access to a free module on “Vapour Compression Cycle”, part of the Refrigeration Fundamentals course. To take this module priced at £30, please follow the instructions attached to this article.
